The Maine Junior Golf Initiative

In the best interest of promoting junior golf in Maine, several organizations have come together to form the joint Maine Junior Golf initiative, with the goal in mind to create a central clearing house where junior golfers of all levels can go to find out about golfing opportunities in The Pine Tree State.

While the opportunities will be broken down into regions of the state and according to ability level, the goal is to include all programs, from opportunities for novice players all the way up through championship tournament participation.

Under the guidance of The First Tee of Maine, the Maine Chapter of the New England PGA and the Maine State Golf Association, the Maine Junior Golf Initiative will be not only a clearing house for all events, but also a place that clubs, parents and golfers themselves can go to educate themselves further on all parts of the game – including basic rules, care of the golf course, pace of play, and the values that golf represents, like honesty, integrity and sportsmanship.

We encourage all clubs, golf professionals, parents and especially our young golfers to take advantage of this web site and all it has to offer. Please don’t hesitate to be in touch if there is something you would like to see on the site that you think would be beneficial to others!

The Maine State
Junior Golf Tour

The Maine Junior Golf Tour is a great way for junior players to play competitive golf over the summer months at some of the finest golf courses in the state.

It is the perfect way for players to hone their skills for the upcoming fall high school golf season. In fact, nearly all of the All-State golfers in the state have been past participants in the junior program. The program stresses sportsmanship, etiquette, and friendship in a tournament environment, and focus on the positive values that golf brings its followers.

The focus of the Maine Junior Golf Tour is not on winning, but on competing successfully, and improving the golf game to be able to play at a competitive level. A major emphasis is put on etiquette, the spirit of the game, and the values that the game promotes: honesty, integrity and character.
